Healthy and cheaper than a standard oven
It seems that these days everybody is getting air fryers.
These are low energy solutions, which save money compared to the cost of a standard oven, and can also be far healthier than cooking dishes in oil. With the cost of living increasing, switching to an air fryer is a no-brainer.
Here are a couple of easy peasy recipes you can try out in an air fryer when looking for a healthy meal.
Air fryer chicken
4 chicken breasts
½ tbsp rapeseed oil
1 tsp salt
1 ½ tsp garlic granules
1 tsp smoked sweet paprika
2 tsp mixed herbs
½ tsp pepper
1) Coat the chicken in the oil and set aside. Then, in a bowl combine the salt, garlic, paprika and mixed herbs with the black pepper then scatter this onto a plate.
2) Roll each oiled chicken breast in the seasoning and put this into the air fryer and cook this at 180c for 20 minutes, turning after 10 minutes. Serve with rice and greens or a salad and enjoy!
Air fryer baked potatoes
4 baking potatoes
½ tbsp sunflower oil
Toppings of your choice
1) Scrub the potatoes, then pat them dry with kitchen paper. Transfer these onto a plate and drizzle over the oil and rub it into the skins using your hands to ensure the potatoes are fully covered. Season with salt and pepper.
2) Arrange the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer and cook for up to 50 minutes on 200c. Check after 20 minute, if they seem to be browning too quickly, turn them over using tongs. When ready you will be able to slip a sharp knife through the potatoes smoothly. Split them open and add the toppings of your choice.
